The Strategic Current respects reader privacy and aims to collect only the information reasonably needed to operate and secure the publication, deliver requested communications, respond to readers, and maintain legitimate business and editorial records.
Information you provide
When you subscribe to The Current Brief, you provide an email address and may provide other information made available by the subscription form. If you contact The Strategic Current directly, you may provide your name, email address, message, and other information you choose to include.
Do not send sensitive personal information through ordinary website forms or publication email unless it is necessary for your purpose and you understand that ordinary email is not a secure anonymous tip channel.
Information generated through website use
The services used to operate The Strategic Current may process technical information associated with ordinary web requests, such as IP address, browser or device information, requested pages, timestamps, security events, and server or application logs. This information may be used for hosting, security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and reliable delivery of the website.
Newsletter subscriptions
Newsletter subscriptions are processed through Hostinger Reach. Reach may process subscriber email addresses, subscription status, delivery information, and engagement information needed to operate email campaigns. The Current Brief is sent using the authenticated news.thestrategiccurrent.com sending environment. The publication’s root-domain business email environment is Microsoft 365.
Newsletter messages include an unsubscribe mechanism. Before The Strategic Current begins any covered commercial-email campaign, it will also implement the applicable sender-identification, physical-postal-address, opt-out, and suppression controls required for that campaign. Unsubscribing from The Current Brief does not prevent The Strategic Current from responding to a separate message or request that you initiated. We may retain limited suppression information as reasonably necessary to honor an unsubscribe and avoid accidental re-subscription.
How we use information
operate, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the website and publication systems;
deliver The Current Brief and manage subscription preferences;
respond to reader inquiries, correction requests, licensing questions, privacy requests, and accessibility reports;
prevent abuse, fraud, malicious activity, and operational failures;
maintain records reasonably necessary for publication operations, rights, compliance, and security; and
comply with applicable legal obligations and lawful process.
Service providers
Current service providers include Hostinger for WordPress hosting and Reach email functions, Cloudflare for DNS and edge/security services, Microsoft 365 for business email and related business systems, and other technology providers used to operate the publication. These providers process information under their own applicable terms and privacy practices in connection with the services they provide.
Sale, sharing, and advertising
The Strategic Current does not currently sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or operate a behavioral advertising program. We do not sell subscriber lists or subscriber information as a data product. If the publication later introduces materially different advertising, cross-context behavioral advertising, profiling, data sale/sharing, or tracking practices, this policy and any required privacy-choice mechanisms will be reviewed and updated before or at implementation.
Cookies, technical storage, analytics, and tracking
The site and its providers may use technical storage necessary to operate WordPress, secure sessions, manage forms, prevent abuse, or provide requested functionality. Cloudflare’s optional browser-based Web Analytics / Real User Monitoring is disabled for this website. This does not stop technical information processing needed for hosting, security, forms or requested communications, or the newsletter delivery and engagement processing described above. We will review and describe material changes to optional analytics or tracking before enabling them.
California Do Not Track disclosures
Browser “Do Not Track” signals do not have one universally standardized effect across websites and services. The Strategic Current does not currently use a browser Do Not Track signal as a separate technical switch because we have not enabled material cross-site behavioral advertising or tracking. Necessary hosting, security, form, and requested-service processing may still occur. If materially different tracking is introduced, this policy and applicable choice controls will be updated. Where applicable law requires recognition of an opt-out preference signal or other privacy choice, we will implement the required mechanism for the processing to which that law applies.
Retention
Information is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, legitimate editorial, security, administrative, rights, or recordkeeping needs, or applicable legal requirements. A legal dispute, investigation, or preservation obligation may require us to retain relevant records longer.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect publication systems and information. No website, email system, vendor, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children
The Strategic Current is a general-audience publication and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13 through newsletter or contact functions. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can evaluate the situation and take appropriate action.
Your privacy requests
If applicable law gives you rights concerning personal information we maintain about you, you may contact [email protected]. We may need reasonable information to verify a request and determine which law and records apply. We will respond as required by applicable law.
External links
Articles and pages may link to third-party websites and services. The Strategic Current does not control the privacy practices or security of those external sites.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as publication practices, vendors, technologies, legal requirements, or the legal operator change. The current version will be posted with an updated effective date.
